Grimoire Nier translation is now hosted

#1kharan_zechtsPosted 6/5/2010 6:25:57 PM
Ok I've decided to use google docs and collect all of the translations so far. The document is publicly viewable here:

http://docs.google.com/View?id=dgvmkf89_228fxgghgg3

Google docs allows multiple people to edit documents at the same time, keep track of who edited what and keep track of past revisions. So if someone screws up and deletes all the text an old revision can be recovered.

Translators:
Send me an email at fmatthew5876@gmail.com or post your email address if you want access to editing this document. You will need a google account to edit the document. Email me if you need help figuring out how to use google docs. If you don't feel comfortable using google docs then either post your translations or email them to me. I'd prefer people edit the document directly though so they can format it and make changes as needed. Please post in this thread or email me if you posted something that I missed.

Please take a look and make sure I copied your work correctly. If you censored anything to try to not get it flagged on gamefaqs feel free to edit it back to the original text.

Right now I've just copied and pasted everything in that I could find. If someone wants to volunteer to clean it up I'll give you editing rights. Once my copy of Grimoire Nier arrives I'll try to organize it better to reflect the book.

Translators feel free to use this thread to collaborate and delegate parts of the book.

Also folks lets try to collect any other information we can such as song lyrics and developer interviews. Anything that has more canon information on the world of Nier.

Could you take my name off the page, I mean I technically am stealing people's translations...

And those things I posted are partly summaries, as only the more important parts are translated. You might want to make a note of that there.

done, your name has been removed. If later a credits section is made do you want to be mentioned at all?

So everything you've contributed is a summary from a chinese source correct? I'd like to mark it as such in case later someone wants to do complete translation.

Multiple Chinese sources actually. But since I'm not shameless enough to post what I ripped off from, let's let leave it as "chinese forums and blogs".

Oh and while both DaBubba and I did the time line, mine goes up to the year 3465, so you might want to put it on the the doc :D

I am not sure if this is important, but would you guys think short messages from the seiyuu would be important? Cause my friend told me there's this interview with the seiyuu who voices Grimoire Weiss in the JP version, and there are a few short messages from other seiyuus in the JP version as well that are scattered across Dengeki Games and Dengeki Playstation.

Another thing my friend told me is that, there is a sorta lol guide made by the Dengeki magazines (it's only 2 pages) which pretty much tells you about the interesting things to see in Nier's world. It's another one of those fun columns that they made to get people interested in the game.

Finally, there are also two interviews from Dengeki Games.
1. An interview-prose-ish sorta thing which 2 of the scenario writers (Sawako Natori and Hana Kikuchi) talk about how the story came to be
2. An interview with the Okabe, Evans, and Yokoo (according to my friend, most of the stuff they say are pretty much overlapped and talked about in other interviews with Evans)

He'll start scanning if you guys think it's important and need translation, otherwise he's just gonna let it slide :)
