How would I bind a text command to a key?

I play on alot of points servers so I'd like to bind "/u !buy" and "/u !usepoints" to some keys.

How can I do this?

Thanks

assuming you want to say something in chat, for example:

Bind g "say whatever"

Where do I go to bind the key?

It's not in options unless I am missing it. Is it in the config file?

Thanks.

Will the console save the setting in between quits or will I have to bind the key everytime?

It should save the settings. It does with TF2 anyways.

I am still having trouble with this.

This is how I am enterting it in the console:

bind F4 "/u !buy"

Nothing happens.

am I entering the command wrong or naming the F4 key wrong?
