How did you come across golden sun series?

Pfft. I've gotten a near-mint black label FF7 with original case and manual with a PS1 memory card for $10. Later found a green label with a broken case for $5 (which is my play copy, so I could sell the other one).
Near mint Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne with original case and manual for $10.
I've gotten various other great deals on things.

But my best? Mint condition black label Odin Sphere with original case and manual for $2.
TWO MOTHERF***ING DOLLARS.

I love garage sales and casuals who have no idea what games are worth. And I love not feeling any remorse when I take advantage of them :)

Read an article for the original GS in Nintendo Power.

Saw the commercials wanted it even more. Then I got the NPAdvanced magazine that featured Player's Guide Coverage on the game.

One day on a field trip for school I borrowed my friends GBA who had Golden Sun one in it. Putzed around on his file and saw Ragnarok then the rest was history. As soon as I got home biked to Funcoland with my video game stash and bought it.

Was at the store looking for a new game for my GBA a couple months after I had picked it up (early 2002). The box art caught my eye - I knew absolutely nothing about it at the time. I remember the store rep commenting on how it was a good game when I had him open up the display case and dig it out.

Best $30 I ever spent.

My friend was a Nintendo Power subscriber, and followed updates on the game closely. He bought in on release (11/2001), and I was hooked. I ended up getting it for Christmas that year and loving it. More than thrilled when TLA came out in 2003. I somehow ended up losing my copy of The Lost Age, and came to the conclusion that it was GONE after a few months. We were browsing target one day later that year, and for some there was a copy of TLA on the discount rack for $7. I showed my mom and she practically bought the game for me without question (considering I actually CLEANED my room a few times in desperation to find my original copy). Unfortunately, by that time I was hooked on many other games that had come out, and I stopped playing the game about 3/4 of the way through.

I got excited hearing about Dark Dawn, and bought the game when it came out in hopes that I would be motivated to beat TLA. Dark Dawn sat unopened on my game shelf until just the other day I put it in. After playing it for about 20 mins, I started to think about never beating the second game. I had always liked Isaac and Mia more from GS, but Jenna and Sheba more in TLA. After learning I actually would meet up with them and have the ability to build a party, I finally popped TLA back in to complete the journey. I was literally an hour away from the two parties combining. Im about to finally finish TLA, and am pretty excited to get to DD now!

Glad you really enjoy playing The Lost Age. You'll definitely enjoy the story in Dark Dawn, but after several years apart the gameplay isn't EXACTLY the same.

Believe it or not, but I was thrilled about the 'weird' commercial way back then, and this was my first GBA game ever. Even though the commercial didn't make any sense to me at all, i just liked it in some kind of way? now after DD i finally get the commercial but still, this is one of my favorite series, if not the favorite.

Pretty much this, with GS1. His JRPG love died out around the time, so he gave it to me.
