I like the space theme and going planet to planet. And you get to fire lasers. Futuristic setting is really cool.

I play Metroid to explore and to be fast. One or the other, and so I go with sequence breaking and whatnot. I think that category includes nonlinearity.

Getting powers up that make me feel overpowered. Metroid hasn't lost this aspect... unlike Zelda.
