So just out of curiosity, is Reyn's name pronounced "Rine" or "Rain?" Obviously with the English accents, you get that kind of sound from the A vowel, but even when I heard it, it sounded more like they were calling him Ryan in one syllable.

It's like rain. Listen to the voice acting. Shulk even make a play on the name saying "it's right as rain" and Reyn laughs.

If your hearing "rine", your hearing an english accent pronouncing "rain".

So yeah, "rain" or if you prefer: "reign".

No, actually it is Rine. He's making the rain joke because it's a pun. The japanese do so love their puns.

This topic makes me happy, as there's a character in one of my favorite book series named Reyn Khuprus, and I always pronounced his name as "rain" because, IMO, it sounded better. Been bothering me that the people in game have been saying it like "rine", but if that's due solely to accent, then I don't mind it anymore. :D

Mods saying pokemon reproduction topics aren't related to the game is like saying theory-talk isn't allowed, and yet theory-talk IS allowed. Hmm, go figure...

Being English, I think it's 'Rine' as given their type of accents, they wouldn't pronounce 'Rain' like that.

Umm, it's pronounced exactly the way the actor pronounces it.

It's pronounced the way the VA pronounces it, as said before. So "Rine". That accent would not lend itself to pronouncing "rain" as sounding like "rine". The "rain/Ryne" joke is just that, a joke, a pun.
