I think some characters can skill-link with Reyn to wear heavy armor too.

Yeah but it's quite expensive and not very useful. Medium armor protects your squishies just fine. Melia has a skill that boosts heavy armor iirc, but i'm not sure that's any good. --- Gamer Entitlement analyst, PhD.

Reyn is technically the first to get this skill. But Sharla can get it too, and even Dunban I think, though maybe in one of his extra skill trees. Personnally, I choose armors for their look rather than only their characteristics. Especially when you are far in the game, Gems will be more important, moreover there are many skills that can lower the weight of armors. Is it just me, or is heavy armor rather bad. Yeah, it has good physical defense, but it kills your Agility and your Ether Defense. Especially since you can only equip it if you have the appropriate skill or pay 30 Affinity Coins for the skill link, it seems rather bad for such a huge cost.

Late game where it does matter and you can link reduce weight skill and melia's ether def up for heavy armor, it's of no concern.
