rexhexPosted 8/19/2012 3:43:41 PM | i might be getting this soon but other than sidequests what can i actually do? i thought skyrim would be a great game but i hate how repetitive it is --- I AM LIGHTING~Raiden |
fwiotgPosted 8/19/2012 3:49:36 PM | Adventure! |
nonexistingheroPosted 8/19/2012 4:12:14 PM | The individual parts of the game are 'good'... except for the music, which is amazing. But the whole package is fantastic. All the elements, in a big world that just scream 'adventure' and 'explore me' is just very fun to play. Story/characters is a matter of personal taste, but I found them better than most RPG's. The voice acting is extremely well done (IMO) and the cutscenes are very well made. --- Read the mania: http://www.fanfiction.net/~nonexistinghero In SA2, it's Super Sonic and Hyper Shadow. |

xoxoJoshyPosted 8/19/2012 8:53:30 PM | I'm not sure how much more or less repetitive this is than Skyrim but it definitely has a different feel. It feels a lot like a good old solid RPG. --- Want to see how to get a bunch of people to talk to you? I'll tell you when 50 people ask me to. Current count : 43 (g',')g |
XRay2984Posted 8/19/2012 11:20:19 PM | It's different than Skyrim, that's for sure. The biggest thing is that Xenoblade actually has a cohesive, engaging story. As for the quests, each is unique enough to be engaging, and they only tend to get repetitive/tedious if you attempt to do a whole slew in one sitting. For instance, there's this one town that opens up 84 new quests when you first reach it, and to do all of them in quick succession would likely bore a person out of their mind. Fortunately these quests don't entail exploring an hour long dungeon to give item A to person B as is often the case in Skyrim; rather, they tend to much shorter. And as others have said, this is the best RPG soundtrack I've heard in a long time. --- "A woman is like an... artichoke. mecha_mkIIPosted 8/20/2012 12:58:19 AM | Music and environments are great. The rest is from bad to mediocre to decent. |
SSj7CloudSPosted 8/20/2012 2:02:13 AM | I say that about Final Fantasy all the time. Sorry, deja vu. Anyway.
You'll be getting a solid game here no worries about that. Plenty to do to keep you occupied for long stretches of time. Can't remember the last time I just let a game sit to listen to overworld music like the Guar Plains, Eryth Sea and so on. Heck, even the title screen music alone I let sit for a while. It's got such a beautiful soundtrack. --- Playing: Valkyria Chronicles (PS3) Grandia II (PS2) HDNeptunia Mk II(PS3) |
Hated_DarknessPosted 8/20/2012 2:49:06 AM(edited) | If you found Skyrim repetitive, I wouldn't really worry about trying to do too many of the side-quests in XB, just in short bursts maybe. There are tons, but it's not worth it if you won't like doing them. The core game itself on the way through the main story isn't bad so the side-quests aren't the highlight or anything. They're addictive for some and not really worth it too much for others.
One thing you can do is just take on every quest you see (by talking to people with !s above their heads) but don't worry about trying to do them right away or even at all if you don't feel like it--there's a decent amount you'll just complete while going through the areas themselves due to killing certain monsters or finding certain loot. Others are more involved and take deliberate effort though and you can decide whether you feel like doing them or not. --- Impossible is just a word. The reality is in fact far more horrifying. |
