Crystals for Night Vision gems

I'm thinking of trying to take down Avalanche Abaasy and finally earn Beating the Odds (I attempted battling it once before, just to see what it could do; needless to say, Riki was so hungry in less than a minute). A lot of players say that Night Vision gems are an absolute must if you want to take this sucker down, but I have only three Night Vision IV gems. I'd like to forge some higher-rank ones, but I don't know exactly where to get the necessary Crystals. Which enemies drop the highest-rank Night Vision Crystals? Where can I mine some Rare Earth Crystals that have the Night Vision attribute? Can I trade with certain NPCs for Rank VI gems? Thanks loads.

Night Vision is only really needed for physical attackers as it only affects physical attacks. Some characters can be set up to be pure Ether users so that Night Vision is very unneeded.
Daedala drops Night Vision rank 5 cylinders if you want to use a physical party or Monado Looping.

What's special about Abassy is Death Spike, his 1 hit ko talent on a character (just deals 20k damage), Fan physical Topple, and his area Ether.
Everything else about it isn't spectacular.

You need to do Ancient Daedela a couple of times, 4 cylinders in total, in order to outfit your party of 3 (Assuming you are Mega Heating LV6 gems). But the good thing is his cylinders come in very high single percentages, so its just get it and craft it.

Scarlen in Satorl Marsh has rank V Night Vision gems for trade.

I find those to be good enough for the super-bosses.

Once Nic has moved to colony 6 he trades Night Vision V gems too, but like Scarlen, you have to have 5 star affinity with the area.

You don't need night vision gems to beat the abassy just a devine protection of 100% and unbeatable of 50%...

You don't need Divine Protect when you can use Debuff Resist VI 100% which counters all debuffs. And no you don't need Night Vision if you're going for an Ether team, but Night Vision can be used if they want to put in some melee attackers as well.
