I can't find any video of Monks or Dragoons fighting the chimera.
Is it even possible? How can a melee stay close to the chimera with all the sand pits?
In the developers mind are melee really left out for this battle?
Melees destroy Miser. Mages destroy Chimera. Its only fair.
Leveling up jobs is a means to an end. It isn't content.
Ive never seen a DRG or MNK fight it. It's always 1 PLD or WAR tanking, and 4-5 BLMs 2 WHMs and maybe a BRD back in the corner.
If a DRG or MNK were to fight it, the only thing I could see working is if you stand where the tank stands and avoid the boss moves just like the tank has to. The downside is, you'll require cures, which the healers might not be able to afford due to enmity and MP restraints. I'm sure it's doable, but risky.
no one cares about melee damage
if you want to do end game content you should have your other jobs leveled already

Last time we killed Chim we had a Dragoon. You just have to tank the Chim in the center... which is actually very viable. You have boss and melee in the middle and all the ranged on the outside.
Here is a video of Chim tanked in the middle from the perspective of a Mnk. The Chim fight starts at 4:30.
Thanks for the video zazz9! I wish we were on the same server. And thanks to Avulus for the tips. I imagine the similar strategy in the video applies for Dragoons as well.
To answer to Mr. Potato: I'm tired of doing Cuter's Cry runs with jobs I don't like. I want to play with the job I like and not stuck always in the same position, and If the battle is possibile for a MNK then I'm sure It is for a DRG too. =)
Any video on that, zazz9?
^ I don't have a video of a DRG doing Chim off the top of my head but it would just be the same thing. You actually take very little damage as melee if you tank him in the middle... you just have to hug his side or avoid his tail..... as his tail does some poison tail move.
