How's Dragoon?

I'm thinking of rolling it when I get in. Is it possible to solo as one at all?

dragon and all classic job was meant for party play, not solo play, due to lack of cross class skills

Play as what you want. I solo as DRG and PLD all the time, lol.

It depends on what you're soloing. DRG is a dumb thing to solo as if you are fighting anything near hard because you won't be able to equip Cure.

Just some advice though. I'm a career DRG (it's my favorite class) and I can tell you this: if you are in a party doing any kind of challenging content, get ready to be asked to switch to something more useful.

It's not really the greatest choice for just about any content. DRG used to be good for Ifrit but people mostly use BLM now. Heck, they use BLM for everything.

It should still be pretty useful for Garuda?

I feel sorry for the people you group with. DRG is an awesome and incredible DD, and people always underestimate it.

Ignore the elitists, even in a strict community like FFXI, many people have found alternative ways to earn victory (and FFXI is less solo friendly than FFXIV)

Only following the maintsream cookie cutter method of victory, is no way to really play how you like.

Although of course naturally in mmorpgs, there is strength in numbers, so it's not entirely a healthy idea to expect to solo everything. But just main what you prefer and if you have trouble with a monster, just get some adventurers together if necessary.

Drg is fine, just not for soloing.

It doesn't matter if you want to play however you want to play fact is soloing as a dragoon is an idiotic move when soloing as lancer is 50 x better. Unless of course giving yourself a hard time and punching yourself in the face for no other reason than just so you can play however you want to play is a valid excuse.

Also you'll realize sooner or later, you can't just play one job at 50 in this game unless you like being left out of the non exp party "end" game 80% of the time. You're going to level another job, if not all jobs to 50. Such is the way of FFXIV. The end.

Leveling up jobs is a means to an end. It isn't content.

Oh I plan to level multiple jobs if not all jobs. Lancer is also fine, as it appealed to me in the beta.
