After that, push it and voila.

When you talk to the NPC in the Pumpkinn Inn (or whatever the name was) he tells you the monster hit the nearest gravestone to the trea and he pushed it so the door opened.
And some NPC in Skyloft near the graveyard tells you to talk to the Pumpkin guy.

When I arrive at the shack, the door is closed and a text appears, saying that "an evil presence emanates inside" or something. What am I doing wrong?

Yes, even though you know how to open the door, I believe you still have to talk to the old man at Lumpy Pumpkin to activate.

I thought it was that you have to roll into the tombstone nearest to the door, then it'll light up. You push it after it lights up and the door opens.
