Why do I fail at stabbing?

Seriously, it's starting to feel like pure luck that I even beat the game, considering how some of the bosses flat out require stabbing and no other type of slash.

It always registers as a mild swing in any of the other directions, but almost never a stab, I dread whenever it's asked of me to do a thrust attack, because for some reason I'm almost never able to pull it off? What's wrong with me?

Maybe it accidentally registers as a slash because I'm not going completely straight forward? It's not even that much of an accidental directional shift. I don't really have a lot of time to figure my angles, though, if I'm gonna get hit for waiting just a second longer.

You're not the only one that has trouble using the thrust sometimes. The controls can be pretty sensitive so moving the controller in any direction other than directly forward can result in a slash.

So what can I do? I want to make it so that I can beat up third form Ghirahim whenever I feel like (and not just be a fluke), but I can't do that if I can't stab.

Be the pole. Be the pandabear. If you're really looking to make a successful stab, put your wii remote on a fig tree and add detergent to your laundry loads. Always. The most successful technique I've found is

I don't remember having any trouble with the last fight with Ghirahim. The only real advice I can give is try practicing thrusting with a motion that goes as straightforward as possible.

I had no problems doing a stab instead of a normal attack when I needed to use one. I also had no problems in the Wii version of TP doing a shield bash instead of a spin attack when I needed to use one. It felt perfectly natural to me in both cases so the only advice I can think to give is to just be very firm / deliberate with that action. It's just a nice clean jab forwards.

You could aim the wii remote straight at the sensor bar and thrust it towards it as straight as possible.

I wouldn't really say that TP's controls are that similar. Also, make sure the remote is calibrated. If the sword doesn't realign you may be having issues
