Why does everyone love Ancient Cistern?

Dude, you made a topic before saying the Ancient Cistern sucks >_> Just let it go.

There's a difference between creating a topic to simply say "It sucks" but this is more about finding out why other people think it's so great. iKhanic listed the reasons why he thought it wasn't a good dungeon, but still asked why others thought it was great.

Oh, I know, but he has this tendency to express his distaste for Ancient Cistern at any opportunity.

I'm not particularly fond of that first puzzle, and I also dislike that dungeon's tendency to kill me.

The only thing I like about the Ancient Cistern is the boss fight.

I thought it was okay. Nothing particularly great, although the boss was amazing, and it certainly looked nice.

I'm more of a fan of the Lanayru Research Facility, the Sandship and the Sky Keep.

Yeah, this is more me trying to do it less, because if I actually understood why on earth people like it, then I wouldn't hate on it so much.

Not changing this sig until we get a new main series Tales game released on a Nintendo console in the US

worst in the series? I'd say every other 3D water temple was worse than ancient cistern.

water temple- pain in the *** to navigate; the boss was annoying

great bay temple - way too long , especially for a game with a time limit; also the boss was annoying

tower of the gods - the sailing parts in the beginning were boring. other than that it was good.

lake bed temple- pain in the *** to navigate and also way to long. I can't remember if the boss was any good , which is a bad sign because I've play through the game twice in the past year and a half.

ancient cistern - its not my fovirte dungeon in skyward sword, but I'd say its better than tower of the gods and much better than the other 3. it was satisfying to use the whip even though its not used a lot in the rest of the game, it was good how the 2 sections of the dungeon contrasted with each other and the boss battle was fantastic. The puzzles weren't hard , but I enjoyed them.

I love the Ancient Cistern because it's pretty well designed/constructed, I like the use of the whip inside it, the underworld part of it (and going back up and down from the center with the statue), and the mini-boss and boss were great. Also, the whip becomes almost completely useless after this dungeon, so it makes me appreciate it more. In a sort of "Ah, remember back in that dungeon where the whip was uselful? Those were the days."

There are 4 dungeons that I think were great in Skyward Sword:

1
3
4
5

Sky Keep (7) is pretty good, but nothing amazing. If it had a boss it would be a little better. Still good.

2 was decent, mostly because it had a pretty average/mediocre boss. It needed to lead up to something a bit cooler.

6 was so damn boring. The only dungeon that I don't even like at all in the game. I liked a few specific parts of it, I guess. Going underground was interesting but not deep enough. 70% of me in this dungeon is just progressing with a blank stare on my face. Also, the boss is only a slight variant of the first dungeon boss, and it's too easy to hit him when he gets his sword stuck in the ground, making the fight a little duller than the first if you abuse it. I liked the 1st and 3rd Ghirahim fights the best.

I agree that OoT's had some weird ideas, what with having a freaking slope leading to the boss room. Not to mention requiring a small key just to enter the room where there was nothing in there except the boss key. (The changing water levels didn't bother me much)

But what was so terrible about TP's water temple?
I thought that was a pretty decent dungeon... except with the problem where I was looking around for the last key I was missing to enter the room in the middle, until I realized that was the freaking boss door... (Yeah I was pretty dumb there, but only once!)
