The final game has had its difficulty rejiggered a fair bit since the original Tokyo Game Show demo last fall. "We got pretty decent praise," Saito recalled, "but we saw a lot of people having trouble with the controls. So we immediately got to work adjusting the difficulty level. We had started work thinking the game was meant for people good at action titles, but after TGS, we started thinking more along the lines of an experience that people who just like the Metal Gear world setting can enjoy as well."
Even more feedback was implemented from the demo, which was released in Japan last month. Since then, Blade Mode has been made easier to set off, and in Easy mode, Raiden will now parry attacks in semi-automatic fashion. "Just making the game easy would've removed some of the game's attractive points," Inaba explained. "But at the same time, we didn't want people getting stuck at the LQ-84i battle and say 'Ah, forget it' just because they couldn't master the parry move. So I told Saito that we needed some kind of rescue for that...even though it was about two weeks before the end of the dev cycle by that point." --- "They sowed their fate when they took this job.... Wow, gamers today, I feel sorry for devs.
I used to think this way, but i realise that some people only play Meta Gear games to experience the story and have a fun time. people are attracted to the humour and the story more so thanthe challenge in any Metal Gear. I have never really been a cusual player of the series, but I certainly understand their perspective. --- "You want it one way, but it's the other way" - Marlon Brando

I, for one, truly appreciate their efforts. They saw flaws in their game and they have worked to fix it, while also allowing other users who are unfamiliar with the genre a chance to approach the game without all the frustrations.

Thx god I'm playing on hard first time around, I normally play on easiest mode there is for story purposes but normal in demo had enemies dying too fast, but really, some gamers these days need everything handed to them on a platter....once you master something, it's really good, i sucked parrying in DkS....now I can parry most attacks.... --- Enthusiast of the Female Body I draw anime....
Hopefully they will keep up their standards when it comes to higher difficulties. --- "They sowed their fate when they took this job.... I'm just the reaper" - Raiden

I have a hunch that ReVengeance mode will be fully rewarding : ) --- "You want it one way, but it's the other way" - Marlon Brando

Be sure to link to this topic during a "waah parry" crapstorm.
As for the tweaks to Blade Mode, I was saying how it looked, I dunno, more silky in the latest trailers, keen to see if it really does feel different from the demo. --- Official Silver Knight Straight Sword of the Xbox 360 Dark Souls board
