On December 12, Kojima tweeted, "We're only said that the period setting is several years after MGS4. Metal Gear Rising is not part of the Metal Gear Solid series. At the present, we can't say more than this." you got twitter? Now please go on with your next excuse.
And not being part of MGS makes it not-canon?
I guess MG is not canon.
Oh, wait. Theres alot more out there where he stated the game wasnt canon and was an alternate reality. I dont care if you cant stand the thought of the game being non canon. There a ton of articles where its been stated since this game became known to the public. That post above was the most recent. Others were more blunt. Make whatever smartass comments you want. It doesnt change it. --- Playing the Dead Space Trilogy and MGR until GOW comes out. |
soggytoast11Posted 2/21/2013 5:28:32 PM | The storyline of MGS is so convoluted, I'm not even sure if there is a such thing as "canon".
But hey, feel free to fill in the gaps with whatever kind of nonsense your mind can muster. Worked for Zelda... |
rice_noodlesPosted 2/21/2013 5:29:05 PM | Jokes and fourth wall... Otacon: Snake, it's time to change the disc on your Playstation.
Parodies... Screaming Mantis: Why you no memory card?!
There goes MGS4. |
lokithefoolPosted 2/21/2013 5:29:30 PM | Also how about Meryle being a member of you squad on PoliceNauts as a former fox hound member does that make it cannon with the MGS story line?

Very first question asked is "Is the game canon?" He says it's canon, in the same world, and takes place 4 years later. --- Want to watch a fat redneck do stupid crap? I do it for free. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7zTheJ1EQw |
xtabascomanxPosted 2/21/2013 5:30:23 PM | Why are people so afraid of this game being canon? Metal Gear Rising doesn't change anything that happened in MGS1-4. The story was created by KojiPro and approved by Kojima. It isn't an alternate universe. It happens after the events of MGS4. Why is this so hard to grasp? |
franky_Gee_109Posted 2/21/2013 5:31:43 PM | Its a metal gear game and kojima wasn't having the getting soiled at all. Metal gear is a quality franchise, how plat games was going about making it was not going well so he got involved.
People hated raiden, then we loved him in mgs4 but couldn't play him. So he just gave us a raiden to play in a game. Cannon or not, there isn't much impact on the story aside from more elaboration on raidens character. I'm at chapter 3 right now so I dunno if anything to crazy happens but so far it seems to be like what I just said. --- PSN- BlazinBlack109 Currently playing: LP2, UMvC3 (Spidey /Thor/Dormy) , Dark Souls, Anarchy Reigns ( Blacker Baron, Big Bull) |

You mean there are a lot more where you pulled things out of your ass. If he is going around bluntly saying this game isnt canon, you should be able to easily provide a source with him, saying a sentence, with the word "canon" in it. |

Seriously as that one guy mentioned this games "cannon" hardly exists as it is, and almost every entry is very different from each other. Still metal gear rising is a parody, and its hard to prover otherwise after the final boss. |

Still metal gear rising is a parody, and its hard to prover otherwise after the final boss. Funny how you can't provide a single source with the word "canon" in it. And **** MGS4's canonity with Screaming Mantis parodying Psycho Mantis and that fourth-wall breaking with Otacon telling you to change disc. |
