With the internet and all types of ways to get info about video games these days, I wonder if it's possible to create another awesome hidden character mystery the way they did back in the day with Reptile in MK 1? Something like; in the first match of arcade mode, you have to finish your opponent off with an X Ray move in round 3. The second match you have to get at least one flawless victory. In the third match you have to get a 10 hit combo, etc. Like if they didn't even release this information to the ppl writing the strategy guides and the "Reptile Hints" or whoever it is, only appeared like once every 100 matches.
It will never be like before, nowadays hidden characters are either DLC or unlockable bosses. It would be great if it's like that though. Most fightings these days doesn't really had that much in terms finding hidden charactes like when we first found Shin Akuma in Super Street Fighter II Turbo and Reptile in Mortal Kombat.
It kinda still does work, though, because *SPOILERS*
No one knew Liu Kang was going to be in Deception. Boon made extra sure that no renders of him was created so it wouldn't get leaked to the net, and the conditions for unlocking him were ridiculous. Like, I think you had to be in a very hidden location on a certain day of a certain week at a certain time and the chest containing his character would be there for about a minute or so and then disappear. --- Proud member of the DDA TRIPLE H ALWAYS WINS: http://i48.tinypic.com/331lmhd.jpg
I'd definitely say so. Boon knows that part of the lore of his series is the secrecy and hidden stuff. I'm sure he's got a few things up his sleeve. Plus, NeatherRealm is keeping things very hush hush so far so I think Boon already has plans in place. --- Proud member of the DDA TRIPLE H ALWAYS WINS: http://i48.tinypic.com/331lmhd.jpg
I think including Ermac as a hidden character would be pretty neat. Yeah, I know that a lot of gamers agree to disagree that he's been around since the beginning, but, if they do this then they'd be including a character that was far more obscure than Reptile to the point he didn't even truly exist until UMK3.
Besides they did this in *SPOILERS*
Shaolin Monks. Ermac was completely optional and probably the hardest boss in the game. He was also found in the Warrior Shrine, which is an arena from the original Mortal Kombat.
As I said, I say make Ermac a hidden character for my suggestion. I may come up with someone else to throw in as hidden (like younger Sub-Zero?) later on. --- Proud member of the DDA TRIPLE H ALWAYS WINS: http://i48.tinypic.com/331lmhd.jpg
