Great book to read. Touches on some of the "infinite" themes found throughout Fez.

Is there anything special about the audiobook versus paperback or ebook? I tried to get it at my local library, but it was out

Actually, no. The audiobook is an abridged version, so there are bits that are not delivered by the narrator. The only benefit of the audiobook is you get a couple of snippets of Alan Watts speaking as he delivered seminar that relates to his book.

Thats the exact way I did it: paperback (3 times in a row, it was that eye opening for me) and then audiobook. The audiobook is great to listen to in the gym or on a long run or bike ride.
