FEZ .xnb Content Rip Project (ENTIRE GAME)

HertzDevil ( http://www.youtube.com/HertzDevil ) and I (http://www.youtube.com/meckzdev ) are currently in the process of ripping almost every single .xnb asset from FEZ. The process will take quite some time, but this thread will be updated with our progress so far.

This .zip archive will be updated whenever we make progress. There is some pretty weird (presumably) unused content that has yet to be ripped completely. One of the most intriguing of which can be seen here: http://puu.sh/18cEt

Anyways, hopefully these rips will help in uncovering the secrets of FEZ.

Any requests as to what should be ripped first would be fine as well, just in-case anyone was looking for anything in-particular.

There seems to be a lot of unused content. One that's currently peaking my interest, rgb_room.xnb, is one of the largest 2D level textures, and I don't think it's in the game. Some other room textures include a secret room in the CMY caves, and a math tower which I think would've worked great in the game. What's also interesting is that the fourth set of concentric circles is in the files, so they may exist somewhere in the game, and there may be a level left undiscovered.

Most of the level files' titles I've been able to match up with those in the game, but there's a few I'm not so sure of.

It seems that image in the thread is legitimate, even though it might just be unused content. It's qr_crypt.xnb and something similar is picto_crypt_a.xnb. It may be related to the mausoleum crypt puzzle (the one with all them doors), since there could easily be another solution to that puzzle to get to an entirely new room, but I have no idea.
Since the image is legit, the code underneath the link may as well be legit. I wonder if that code is any useful. Going over it again now that I know what the files are, I'm guessing they may pertain to doing certain things in the specified levels. I'm not entirely sure, but I'll take the time to see what sense I can make from this. It's pretty clear Renaud and Phil have referenced at a puzzle that's yet to be figured out over twitter and such, and this code might be hinting towards something. That, or it could be game logic to stuff we already know.

Also, I've got a thread going on here asking people to help use the FEZ engine reader files to create a FEZ viewer to view the different files in FEZ, and possibly even render the levels to be viewed in 3D, as Renaud said it's possible. Unfortunately, I have no idea what's going on with the project, but the last message from one of the people who were willing to help said he was trying to figure out a good way to read the engine file(s) using the Xbox 360 SDK. I'm guessing the code from the thread I mentioned previously may belong to this file. If the program can be put together, we can go look through the level files and see if there's possibly something we haven't seen before.

Also, one of the more interesting lines I haven't seen in the game yet is DOT_CRASH(not edited for convenience, the dialog hasn't been seperated from the identifier. Get used to it):
DOT_CRASH_AOH NO! DOT_CRASH_BIM CRASHING DOWN!

rgb_room.xnb is quite interesting... Could this be an outdated mockup for a level, or something more? I have a hard time thinking that a background plane that's over 4MB would be shipped with the game.

There is probably a lot more in FEZ than we previously thought. There is some really weird content in these .xnb files. I've even found a pattern that was hidden in the ALPHA channel of the texture.

This image appears to be a completely yellow square. However, if we shift over, the alpha channel is exposed when it is being used as an RGB value.

All of this mystery around the concentric circles really intrigues me. What's even more, Dot's TEMPLE dialogue is supposed to be triggered in temple_of_love, AKA http://puu.sh/18QsG

And as we know, there is a tree with concentric circles on top of the pyramid that the temple is located in... What could this be indicating? The previous trees in the game with this pattern marked the placement of another concentric circle on the ground.

As I said, there is defiantly more to this game than any of us may have previously thought. There has to be.

We're currently writing a program that will generate alpha maps from every .xnb texture file. I'll let you know if there are any other secrets to be found.

I've also updated the .zip with some new sprites, and even some animated sprite sheets. rgb_room is included as well, if anyone else is curious as to what it is.

this is fantastic. the cmy_monolith.png image made me realize that the entire music place is made out of the CMYK color model (yellow being the cubes in the menu?)

i wonder if the "other cave" is the rgb cave...
