Any tips for a new player?
Buffs and Debuffs are your friends and abuse enemy weaknesses.
Seriously. Do the stuff you want to, and don't even worry about maxing all S.Links.
One useful tip, though, is a good way to know if you're properly leveled is by the Old Document side-missions. In general, if you make it up to the barrier that you can't proceed past yet (where the Documents will be located), then you're at a good place for the upcoming Full Moon boss. If you're having trouble getting that far, you may want to consider spending some more time leveling up.

Focus on school S. Links and prioritize them over out-of-school links and always make sure to keep a matching persona for each S. Link
Walkthroughs and guides aren't cheating. They are just helpful hints for the troubled.
Being tired/sick is a good thing if it's a school day. Go to the nurse's office for a courage boost without having to spend the day. The only non-combat downside is that you can't study, but it's generally better to go to the mall at night anyway. Keep a Yawn-Be-Gone (buy them at the school store) on hand just in case, once you have enough money that 1000 yen doesn't matter.
The only character not worth using is the axe user. He has nothing but physical attacks, and being a one-trick pony in this game is not good.
If you're doing quests, you'll eventually get a weapon called the scrub brush. Don't sell this. Really, just don't.
If you want to do the quests that require enemies to drop certain items, make sure to accept the quest first. They won't drop them otherwise.
SuperNiceDog won the Guru contest. Good job.
Im playing it via Maniac Mode.
The skull/death appearing during Shuffle Time is not an instant death effect. Having picked it just get you to meet Death, a very powerful monster, but you will get a warning once Death is around. Be sure you have your way out of that current floor (near the stair to the next level or a teleporter) or its a game over when Death touches you.
I love the Hit/Evasion Down negative buff. Very effective against boss.
There's a Quest (Elizabeth will introduce you that if you haven't at that point) that requires specific special item. Just get the quest or else you won't get the cutscene for getting it.
The movie showing in the Port Station gives a great increase so if you have the money, prefer to spent your Afterschool in there esp if your goal is increasing whether your Academics/Charm/Courage. There's also alternative that gives "greatly" increase like the Prodigy Platter for Academics.
