how good is the story?

Its story is immersive, characters are not shallow, game takes about two to five playthroughs to complete, abt a few days.
So yeah worth ya money.

The game is worth it hands down. I was in the same position as you were and I took the plunge and got it.

The story is fantastic imo.

For the money, you will get a lot of play.

A bit of a dissenting opinion, yo!

The major question is, are you tolerant of grinding? Ultimately, this game is sort of a grindfest. Mind you, one of the best I've played, in that it does a great job breaking it up with with story and fusion-sprees, and making the combat less aggravating by not being a spam-a affair (not to mention not being random encounter), but at it's core you'll be grinding up some levels decently often, and exiting/re-entering the damn fusion screen a lot more than you'd like.

I loved the story, and was quite fond of the female route, but I know there are quite a few peoples who grew bored with the game before long, and in my heart I know why.

As long as you never play on maniac and you always continue with new game+ then only the first playthrough will be a grindfest (a long one). But is this game good? ITS AMAZING! I'm not joking at all. If you like RPG's you'll love this. I really felt like I was there in this when it happened. It's so good that I'm NOT getting a Wii U or 3DS just to get a Vita and be able to play Persona 4 on that. And Im a BIG KINGDOM HEARTS FAN!! That's how good this game is, so yes. Go to PSN Store right now and get it. You'll have no regrets.

I'm talking about getting through the first playthrough. A 40-60 hour game is no joke, and I've seen the grind cause people to lose interest within 3 hours. The second playthrough never even came into the discussion. ;p

Mind you, I DO love this game, and I was very happy to do my own second playthrough, but it's still things that need to be pointed out. It's not for everyone, and if you're really not a fan of grinding, you'll never get close to the point where grinding becomes less of an issue.
