Video: http://videos.pcgames.de/v/QTGhgs5xSiq/The-Witcher-2/Exklusives-Gameplay-Video/ (Possibly will have to view a polish commercial before the actual video will load) During the video you can see the prompt "[RB] Gather Herbs", RB generally be used for 'right bumper'. Which might confirm that at least a 360 version is in the works or they're possibly just using a 360 controller. Info on a Polish preview: http://witchervault.ign.com/fullstory.php?id=57096 This one is pretty interesting. According to it, there will be three main plot lines to choose from at the start: 1) Following up on the political unrest caused by the events in TW1. 2) Try to discover why/how Geralt was resurrected. 3) A more personal one wherein you focus on developing relationships with friends (new and old) and the like. However, it's not very clear on whether you can only choose one per game or if you can do all three, but have to complete them one at a time rather than doing all three at once. I'm hoping for the latter. Companions play a big role in the game but they won't be treated like a traditional RPG party. The companions available are dependent on your choices throughout the game. They can also die which will effect TW3, but not much info is given on this particular bit. I'm hoping they can only permanently die via story events 'cos companions died very easily in TW1 during battles. The game's main plot is supposed to be around 25 - 30 hours long. No information is given about how long the game will be with sidequests included. --- A clever little bleeder, was Oscar Wilde. Info on yet another Polish preview: http://witchervault.ign.com/fullstory.php?id=57121 Areas sound extremely impressive -- no more invisible walls, great distant view, and dense, life-like forests. However, the stuff revealed about combat disappointed me. No longer will it be based on stats and the like, instead it'll be entirely skill based. Reminds me of the difference between Mass Effect 1 and ME2. Other new combat stuff includes being able to stab with your weapon as well as throw daggers. Also, your special attacks will drain your endurance bar this time around, instead of the use of signs being the only thing that drains it. New game features include the ability to use stealth and dialogue skills. The dialogue skills sound kinda unique -- the example given is that if you beat up a guard, you'll gain the 'Guard Beater' achievement and will somehow be able to use that in dialogues. --- A clever little bleeder, was Oscar Wilde. Finally, a new ten minute Polish interview with English subtitles: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgNHv_QaF7o&feature=player_embedded --- A clever little bleeder, was Oscar Wilde. He once defined a cynic as a man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing. Call me a cynic, then. | |
During the video you can see the prompt "[RB] Gather Herbs", RB generally be used for 'right bumper'. Which might confirm that at least a 360 version is in the works or they're possibly just using a 360 controller. Or RB could be "right button", as in the right mouse button. I know some games also use RMB to identify "right mouse button", but others do just list it as right button. Sorry, I wouldn't get your hopes up about it being the right button/bumper on the 360 controller. --- "The Dreamcast...I don't know. You're right and I really couldn't care either way, but the preview in my third post says that a console version has been confirmed. The 360 and PC version will come out at the same time with the PS3 one coming out a few months later. --- A clever little bleeder, was Oscar Wilde. You're right and I really couldn't care either way, but the preview in my third post says that a console version has been confirmed. The 360 and PC version will come out at the same time with the PS3 one coming out a few months later. I didn't read any of the articles yet, so I didn't see that myself. Like I said in another topic, I'm only interested in the PC version. As long as developing for the consoles doesn't delay the release of the game and they don't affect the quality of the PC version I'm cool with them working on both. If it turns into a situation like Deus Ex: Invisible War, though...I don't think I could handle that again. LOL --- "The Dreamcast...I don't know. A new preview: http://palgn.com.au/pc-gaming/16357/the-witcher-2-assassins-of-kings-preview/ Flashback images to the consequences of your choices will not be done via cutscenes rather than artwork. While I definitely see the benefit of this and how it can be better, I personally loved those pieces of artwork. Item creation is now a lot more varied. Instead of just potions and bombs, you can now make weapons as well. The inventory is apparently completely changed, though it isn't very clear on this point. It sounds like there will no longer be a limit to what you can carry. Armour is now completely customizable -- everything from your gloves to your belt can be changed and upgraded. Though, since other previews have talked about how combat isn't very stat-based anymore, I'm guessing these armour changes will be purely cosmetic. Finally, the preview makes it sound as if there will be no level-scaling, which is probably the best bit of news in the article. I've always felt that level-scaling -- especially done poorly -- really robs the player of any sense of progression. --- A clever little bleeder, was Oscar Wilde. TW1 save game transfer has been confirmed. Only things that will apparently carry over, though, are choices during the story and possibly some weaponry. --- A clever little bleeder, was Oscar Wilde. Oh crap, I am pretty sure I deleted my saves - the folder was about 10 gig  |
