I just started, and I noticed in some areas the light flickers a bit. It doesn't look like any sort of atmospheric effect, more like the gamma is changing from bright to dark and then back again. Seems a little weird, anyone else experiencing this, or is it really just part of the game? With games like this it's hard to tell what's a glitch and what's part of the atmosphere lol. Thanks.
Do you mean a rapid, repeated light-to-dark-to-light flicker? Or a slow shift from darkness to light, or vice-versa?
If it's the slow shift, it may be because your character's eyes adjust to changing levels of light.
If it's a rapid full-screen flicker, I'm not sure, but I know with some games, especially games with very dark atmosphere, I notice I get horizontal lines that seem to flicker and scroll randomly down my screen (so tiny and faint as to be barely noticeable) in lots of games when I enable AA or Vertical Sync.
I'm running dual HD 5770's, AMD cpu and mobo. Not sure if it's hardware related or a problem with my monitor, but maybe you have similar hardware?
I have a GTX 460, AMD Phenom II quad cpu and AM3 mobo. It could be hardware related but I seriously doubt it. Maybe it's just a small graphical glitch, as yes it is the rapid full screen flicker you described, definitely not an intentional visual effect, at least not a subtle one. It's funny because when this kind of thing happens on a console game you tend to ignore it as there's nothing you can do, but when it happens on a PC game I find I get a lot more picky haha. I'll see if it persists.
I guess you could try updating your GPU drivers, or messing with the NVidia control panel settings. Try disabling Gamma Correct AA and Transparency AA if they are on. If that fails then you could try reinstalling the game.
I'm like you, I don't want any graphical glitches, especially lighting glitches during a game like this,
I get something that seems related, but I'm not sure if that's exactly the same
Sometimes, when the screen was supposed to be a bit darker than usual, it shifts to pitch black. Looking other way makes it get normal again, so does walking a few steps... I haven't experienced it before, as I played the game for some time, stopped, and now I was gonna play again.
But not being able to see anything on the screen is kinda annoying...
Lighting the lamp also solves it... but I'm sure it's not the game usual dark, as I haven't experienced it before and the change from light to dark is too sudden
