The Next Batman Game

I hope the next game featuring the Caped Crusader allows players to switch between multiple characters in an open world just like Arkham City did but instead of just The Bat and The Cat, you can interchange Robin, Nightwing, and maybe a new Batgirl? I'm not sure if Barbara Gordon was replaced in the comics but I've always enjoyed a kickass female. Her red hair was a plus. Somebody should pick up the mantle just as Terry McGinnis became Batman and Jason Todd and then Tim Drake became Robin after the originals. And please some new villains, ones that they hint around like the Black Mask and the sinister Hush character.

According to one article, they're doing a prequel based on the 50's comics. I assume that means larger city environment and different takes on all characters. Though mark hamill isn't going to be joker anymore.

Oh I see! Too bad we won't see it til 2014. I wish I still had this one batman game on ps2 that allowed a 4 player co-op. U could choose between Batman, Nightwing, Robin, or Batgirl and they had tag team combos and whatnot. It was pretty cool. My bratty sister sold that and slew of other good titles I had for PS2 when I went off to school. Hopefully with the Man of Steel movie premiering next year, we'll get a Superman game of similar nature to tide us over til the next Bat game.

There's 3 ps2 games, discounting lego batman. Batman Begins, Batman Vengeance, and Rise of Sin Tzu.

Judging by the cover art, it's rise of sin tzu. Having robin, nightwing, and batgirl on the cover otherwise would be pretty pointless.

The next game definitely needs a wide array of characters. After having 4 in AC there's no going back. Here's hoping there's a Betty Kane batgirl thrown into the mix in some way. Even though she's really not a prominent character I've always liked her design.

What the next game needs to have more than a wide array of playable characters is playable characters who are actually relevant. Not just ohlooklet'sberobintokicksomeassaroundthecity. (And what the HELL was up with that shield? What is he, protoman?) Hell even catwoman's story is minimalistic and barebones in the extreme. Her "chapters" practically minigames. It's a damn good thing you can use the characters in free play or it'd be downright criminal to charge for that crap.

Open up and flesh out the playability of each character beyond challenges and freeroam. Possibly add in coop to kick ass or explore together. Hopefully avoid making it gimmicky. More a feature than a forced necessity.

I totally agree. And you should be able to unlock character skins through in-game challenges instead of having to pay. Rocksteady should focus on creating better and longer DLC missions if they're going to charge $10.

I have my fingers crossed that the rumor the article is referring to is not true, or just a separate game. There is quite a bit from Arkham City that seem to be hinting to a sequel (Hush, return of Scarecrow, Azrael, etc.)

Yeah there is still much potential here to expand upon the Batman lore within this continuity. I find the Arkham games to have a great story in part because they do not suffer from the same issues of the comics (going on for years constantly bringing back characters and retconning and such). It's interesting to see who dies next and which villains get introduced next and what not. There is no need to make a Justice League game or anything like that.

And outside of challenge map stuff and DLC, I don't think anyone but Batman needs to be playable. Just give him more gadgets instead.

More gadgets? After this? You want the equip menu to take up the whole screen?
