Okay... so Batman has some pretty sick moves.. as does Robin and Nightwing (not really a fan of Catwoman in general..lol)... Does anybody recognise what style of fighting that they used for these characters in the game..?
Batman's fighting style (according to the comics) is a mix of various styles. And since both Dick and Tim had multiple teachers, including Bruce, it only stands to reason that their styles are mixed styles as well. I recognized bits and pieces of styles in the fighting, but it's a video game. Even when a style is specified, they don't usually get it quite right. --- To be fair, it is far easier to replace a few dead interns than full Doctorates. Great video.. I've never heard of that style... My brother's really big into martial arts but hasn't played the game (3rd-person games make him dizzy) and he was asking me what styles they used after watching the Nightwing trailer.. He showed me this too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esbYyTegDCo ..kinda looks like some of the takedowns.
I figured they mashed styles a little bit but I assumed that each character would have a predominant fighting apparent... I was wondering if Nightwing's "acrobatic" style was based on anything or if they just have him doing gymnastics..
It seems exaggerated in the game, but is there a sort of style or name for jumping around taking on multiple targets like Bats does? For example when he dives forward from across the screen to kick or slug someone far away. It almost reminds me of how Spider-Man fights at times. --- "When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."
The problem with trying to diagnose Batman's style is that it's so mixed and most writers and artists don't know enough about the styles that the characters know that it all becomes somewhat generic. I mean, I've studied a form of gung fu most of my life that is all about disabling and disarming your opponent as quickly as possible, and it bares a resemblance to what we see Bats use in this game.
Personally, I think that any attributing to any particular style that he uses in this game is matrixing. We see what we know, and we see Bats using techniques similar to what we use in our own styles, so we attribute it to what we study.
But then again, I've practiced against people who study Krav Maga, and there are a surprising number of similarities. Not just in technique, but in execution of the technique. --- To be fair, it is far easier to replace a few dead interns than full Doctorates.
