The PS3 has better graphic hardware. i.e most PS3 exclusives look much better than Xbox exclusives. It also differs from game to game but the PS3 has more updated software. What this basically means is the PS3 can handle graphics the 360 just cant. The only major difference is the 360 is usually lighter than the PS3 but the PS3 will, in most cases, have sharper textures. The 360 has a better graphic card BUT this is less important than the PS3 having about 7 or 8 cores allowing it to handle much more complex graphics so the 360 has a better graphic card but worse graphics in most cases. As for cross platform games the graphics are usually about the same. Just cause nobody wants to code more complex graphics for the PS3 version from what I've seen as the Xbox is easier to work with (but less quality). It also depends on what the game was originally meant for. So in short: PS3 has sharper and more detail (in most cases) while 360 has brighter but less detailed (in most cases).
I had to research this a bit before I made this response. ALso PS3 reads blue-ray which I belive is more graphical or something. I dont really know as I dont watch blue-ray disk, I'll just use dvd thank you.

Have you taken a look at Uncharted 3 at all? Better then anything the Xcrotch can take.

Its the space diffrence between the 2 disks that matters, with blu rays being able to hold up to 50GB while the xbox ones can hold i beleive close to 6GB?
