Just leave about 20-25 open slots in your pack. Carry over your best weapons, rune them up to the max, plus your best armor and accessories. You'll have an opportunity to stash in a storage chest or sell items pretty early in the game. Many of the weapons will shortly be replaced by better ones, but they are still worth using to carry in runes.

Carry a bunch of healing items, lyrium potions, poisons and coatings (if you are a rogue) as it may be a while before you have a chance to craft anything in quantity.

Also put on any equipment you got from Shale-related DLC. None of it transfers, but you will retain the stat bonuses they give when you import your character; so it's essentially free stats.

Lol, yeah my friend was wearing full warden's armor when he transfered to Awakening. Basically he had 30 armor naturally. Pretty invincible, plus there's the fact that Awakening's difficulty is a joke.

True but he retains the fatigue penalty as well. That's a negligible penalty though if he was a backstabber since backstabbers don't really use alot of activated talents. What else did he retain from the warden commander armor set? did he retain the +stamina, +fire resistance, +physical resistance and +health? How about the fatigue reduction that comes w/ the set bonus?
