What's Sakaguchi's problem?

He's been making games for every system under the sun *except* the PS3/PSP/VITA.

I know he expressed his dislike of HD because of something along the lines of they focus too much on graphics and not enough on the story/game world and then turns around and makes a non-HD game that lasts under 30 hours with a very forgettable story. I don't get it.

I'm starting to believe he's just salty he left Square.

It's probably that AND because he apparently doesn't like the ex-CEO of Sony or something.

He never said graphical focus takes away from the story, specifically. And since TLS was excellent in many ways, I'd say it was a worthwhile trade-off.

As for his choice of platforms, I believe it was because he received assistance from Microsoft and Nintendo in making games for their systems. Maybe Sony should have made him an offer.

He said somewhere that developing for the PS3 is difficult.

In addition to the whole not liking the Sony CEO or whoever, I recall reading something about Sony having a part in Spirits within, so in regards to them making an offer to him, I think it's safe to say that after him being responsible for that mess, Sony probably would not want to make any sort of offer to him again.

Did they lose money on it?

You mean losing money for making "Final Fantasy: The spirit within"?
The movie was a bomb. And this time I'm not telling about bombing in the german kind of way. In this case the movie was a failure, a major failure, which almost bankrupted Squaresoft

That's why Square fused with Enix back then.

Never quite understood what was wrong with the movie personally. Drop the Final Fantasy part off the title and it's not that bad of a movie. It was the first DVD I had ever owned. Oh, such fond memories.

Even if you ignore the fact it has final fantasy in the title, its a pretty atrocious movie. the cgi was impressive but story and character wise it was a mess.

Explain the 360 which is capable of HD output.

Nintendo and Microsoft have both helped out Mistwalker and its endeavors.
