but he is an author of many military/espionage themed books...he was/is so good at writing detailed military material, with believable stories based on real life events..they made movies out of some of his books (The Hunt for Red October)

well in 2008 Tom Clancy sold his name to Ubisoft...and has nothing to do with the games.
