whatever feels better for you. Try out both, see which one gives you the best control. I know some people who move their thumb from one to the other in order to do certain moves.

I mostly use analog, but I sometimes use the d-pad for dashes or Tager's Gadget finger.

Popularity usage in this order:

Stick >>>> Analog >>>> D-pad

I use D-pad 90% of the time. 10% goes to stick when I play at the arcade.

All preference, I can't do 236236 or 2363214 motion on a controller at all with a d pad or analog. So I upgraded and got a stick, you'll find what works best for you.

I use the analog at present. Makes dashes harder than they should be, but other than that, it's not bad.

on the controller, i use the D-pad, however lately i've been playing/practicing on the arcade stick and it feels so much better to play.

I hate balltop arcade sticks since I have large hands, so I'm using Hori EX2 pad until the new controller comes out. I play a hybrid style. I'll use the d-pad to move, but the analog to attack motions. I'm pretty much comfortable with that because I got use to playing that way after years of hardcore VF5 play.

If you were expecting a meaningful signature, then you'll be horribly disappointed.
