Feraligatr is a decent enough starter. High attack, which means he's good with Waterfall. He's kinda outclassed by Gyarados, though.

...

What?

Krookodile is meh. Hes a decent physical sweeper and will do ingame, but competitively, there are better options, like Feraligatr...

Yeah there meh. Decent ingame and decent competitively. Biggest problem is dark/ground creates some weaknesses that you don't have to worry about with other ground physicals like Excadrill.

Is Excadrill a much better pokemon?

Krookodile is great in-game...

Krookodile PROs:
-------------------------
2 Good abilities:
- Moxie allows full sweeps of teams (Ghost E4, Psychic E4)
- Intimidate pads his defense and can cripple some common in-game enemies
2 Good Attacking STABs: Crunch & EQ
Access to good coverage attacks (Outrage, Dragon Claw, Stone Edge, Rock Slide, Brick Break, Fire Fang, Thunder Fang)
Above-Average Attack (117) & Speed (92)
Access to Swords Dance

Krookodile CONs:
-------------------------
Dark/Ground is bad defensive typing (5 common weaknesses, 3 uncommon Resistances, 1 common Resistance, 1 common Immunity)
Defenses are Average (95/70/70)

He does lose to Excadrill as the best Ground-type in the game, though...

Excadrill PROs:
---------------------
Sand Rush
135 base Attack, 88 base Speed
Steel Typing + 110 base HP gives it great bulk
Access to Swords Dance
1 Good Attacking STABs: EQ
Access to good coverage attacks (Rock Slide, Shadow Claw, Brick Break, X-Scissor, Poison Jab)
Access to Rapid Spin

Excadrill CONs:
----------------------
88 Speed is below average outside of SS
No Stone Edge

Oh, come on, he has a personality.... somewhere between a tamagotchi and a furby. - penultimate lifeform

I plan on using Krookodile in my White team and Excadrill on my Black team.
#8Phantom_NookPosted 2/10/2011 11:33:20 AM
I'm using Krookodile because I think he looks effing awesome. I haven't seen all the new Pokes, including this "Excadrill", so he may end up outranked.

Try to get a Jolly Sandile, just to make sure he is faster than other pokes to enable sweeps

Crunch
Earthquake
Rock Slide / Stone Edge (Coverage)
Outrage / Dragon Claw / Swords Dance / Hone Claws / filler

Your main weapons are Crunch & EQ. Rock + Ground hits most for neutral.

IIRC only Hydreigon resists both Crunch and EQ and is neutral to Slide/Edge, which is why I liked to carry the Dragon move, but you can use the buffing move if you are carrying Intimidate...
