Acquiring a Thunderstone

I endured EXP sharing with my electric eel tadpole and it finally evolved into an electric eel teenager. According to the Internet, I require a Thunderstone to evolve it further into an electric eel monster.

Maybe the question should be this: Can I acquire a Thunderstone before the eighth gym? I have defeated the seventh gym leader and saw the cutscene when N flew off on a giant cloud dragon.

You can indeed. On the road to the 8th gym city there is a department store, if you go to the top floor and talk to the (miner?) there, he will give you a Thunderstone.

Assuming that I go right from the seventh gym town to reach the eighth gym town, I hope.
