To be honest, I think RNG is the best bet compared to breeding. You might breed some good pokemon but its hard to get one that doesn't have some weakness in their IV spread.

Thank you so much for writing this guide. I just got back into Pokemon (and now competitively) and am currently attempting to digest all of this information. I felt bloated and weak from the bits and pieces I got from various random websites. But all I needed to look was at the garden of knowledge in front of my face to pig out on in a simple and elegant fashion.

Yes, this part of the game is definitely the most confusing to anyone. Once you learn the basics, it's not that hard.
