Cobalion Moveset?

#1Shadow_CharzardPosted 8/16/2011 10:27:19 PM
So, I have a kinda-sucky Cobalion and I can't decide what moves to give it.

Stats: Lv. 76, Mild nature, Loves to eat
239 HP
190 Atk
234 Def
168 Sp.Atk
124 Sp.Def
174 Spd
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Already-Chosen Moves

Sacred Sword: Pretty much a staple for Cobalion. I would've chosen Close Combat, but I'd rather have that move on a Cobalion with higher base Def.

Iron Head: Basic STAB. It's too fast to benefit from Metal Burst, plus I like the potential flinch factor.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Other Possible Moves
-Toxic
-Roar (toxic / roar combo?)
-Swords Dance
-Swagger / Psych Up combo

Lemme know what you think

How about Swords Dance and Stone Edge?

That'd be great for wreaking! I steer away from Stone Edge due to its accuracy, though... Do you trust that move?

EDIT: Now that I think about it, I'd also get perfect (type) coverage. If only Stone Edge were more dependable...

It's the only Rock-type move Cobalion can even learn, so it's not like you can use Rock Slide instead.

Yeah, I know... I'm definitely considering the all-out attacking set.

I like to use combinations, though. Do you think my Cobalion is tough enough to set up any of the aforementionned combos without taking too much damage? The only worry I have about those combos would be the lack of reliable HP recovery.

That's great and all, but I'm stuck with the Cobalion I have. So I'm trying to make it the best it can be. (Still looking for advice regarding my situation.)

Sidenote: I'm pretty sure that's the same moveset that Rykard3 suggested!

swords dance, iron head, sacred sword, filler.
also i see "rykard3" nowhere in this topic besides where you posted it.

Yours is Mild, so you should use a special set. Cobalion's offenses aren't that great, so he really needs to run a boosting move or have a Choice Band/Specs. I run:

Cobalion @ Lefties
Timid
252 SpA/ 252 Spd
- Flash Cannon
- Focus Blast
- CM
- Taunt

It's a bit limited type-wise, but both attacks hit pretty hard after a CM, and taunt is useful since Coba has that great speed base. He can tank fairly well and CM covers his weaker defense as well.

Coablion w/ Life Orb
Mild
128 Attack/128 Special Attack/252 Speed
Work Up
Sacred Sword/Close Combat
Iron Head/Stone Edge
Flash Cannon/Focus Blast

Ad Libbing here, but with a Mild nature, it would be a crime to not use a mixed set, as horrible as it may be. IMO, I would use CC, SE, and Flash Cannon, but it's up to you.
