secret of the fae pools side quest/task...

has anyone else come across this task-type side quest in galafor?

you read some guy's journal and play with urns, trying to summon a boggart.

all i did was get poisoned and set on fire, i think.

what am i supposed to do, what is the point of this quest, and does the boggart do anything?

Friends,

( spoilers )

I think you have 3 urns and 4 rocks, of different colors, or 4 urns and 5 rocks. you just go around putting rocks in urns, and taking them, out... if you mess with it long enough, the boggert does POP out.

BUT, because of the camera, you dont really see him.. He pops up behind you, where you do not see him. so you go on your merry way, putting in stones, and taking them, out.

Finally I got sick of it. I walked away..and I see a Boggart to attack.. so I ATTACK. Be hes not getting touched, hes not marked on my map as an enemie. so hes my PET.

I got in a fight pretty close that that. and the Boggart HELPED ME. Well he was not much help, but he did help me. He wa on my side at least.

In about a minute, he was gone, and wondered off. So yep, it did work for me. Kinda not really that well done. you have no clue when you do it RIGHT. and I think you can do it again, and again. IF YOU know what rocks go in what directions.

Good luck.

I was able to summon the boggart on the first try but, it didn't complete the quest for me. I only got to use 3 urns and 3 stones. I tried to redo the quest so I killed the boggart. When summoned it is an ally and killing it means you commit murder and assault.

Bump:

I'm in the same boat. I haven't killed the boggart, but I have summoned him and the quest still says it's active. What do I have to do to get the task 'completed'?

IIRC, summoning the boggart *is* the goal of the task, and like most tasks there really is no ending.

So why is it categorized as a "task"? What more can you do once you summon the boggart?

from what i've seen, all tasks seem to be endless, repeatable minor quests.

they're used as sources for unlimited income such as the bandit armband quest in ayten, and apparently gaining useless allies such as this boggart.

there is nothing more to it than that, it seems.

I think you're part right. All of the 'endless', repeatable quests seem to be tasks, but there are tasks with actual ends. Long Overdue and Life's Work are tasks I currently have that have ends, plus there are several I've already completed.

Gathering Flames ended for you? How many did you turn in? After a while, I just concluded it was one of the endless ones.

By the way, add the "turn in souvenir faeblades" task at Ysa as another one that ends. It ended only after I turned in three or so, which was disappointing.

On topic, I still don't see why Secret of the Fae Pools is categorized as a task. As far as I know, you can summon the boggart only once. :-/

You can summon 1 at a time. I think you can go back and resummon him if you want, should something happen to your first.
