Why Can't I change Chester's bow?

When I get to the future and can finally use Chester again in ToPX, I am unable to switch weapons with him.

Is there something I have to do first?

Kind of in fact not many shops in the entire game actually sell Bows in the first place for him to equip so the closest location for a new bow is via the enemies that drop ???? bows via Volts Cave/Lair.

However the bow that broke spoilers:-

-all the way back when Chester attacked Dhaos when you finally repair it via a subquest the repaired bow WILL be his best weapon.

so I have to fix the bow before he is fully playable and able to get new bows right?

I know about his best weapon, but right now he is WAY under leveled and has a crappy bow equipped in Hard, so he is doing 6 damage with the level ups from the first training event.

He is level 35 and my other characters are nearly 60 or above 60.

You can buy other bows until you get his best one

While you can "buy" other bows the game doesn't have many weapon shows that have bows to buy so your better off just winning the various ??? bows like the ones from the Volt Cave enemies and using a rune bottle on those.

However the first step of the subquest to repair the busted Bow HAD to be done before entering Thor and fight Dhaos their else the remaining steps to repair the bow can never be done for the rest of the game.

In that case once lower moria opens up (enter final dungeon at least ones) one enemy drops a ??? bow that turns into a Beserker bow to equip.

Then again most if not all of the ??? bows before Lower Moria are all elemental so you may not want Chester to equip any of them.

nvm, I figured out that I had 15 of the bow he had equipped and therefore I had to sell one so he could equip a new, stronger bow.

I seriously thought I had to do the elven bow sidequest completely before i could take it off for some reason.

LOL

and now my team of Chester, Cless, Londrine and Mint are ready to destroy the rest of this game.

I might even take out Mint and put in Suzu when I get her, to make it more interesting.
