I was thinking about testing adding multiple boosts to the same weapon myself. First I want to see if there's a bigger bonus to higher difficulties though like other quest rewards, and especially if it's just the same boosts but higher numbers if so.
I plan to have a fully-mithril'd set in the end, since I believe you can keep replaying Legendary.
Alright, I think I kind of confirmed boosts to be better, but I've only done the one comparison so far.
Angmir on Normal, using a ranged weapon: +40 Damage, Reduced Wear 5000%, +90 Crit Damage.
Angmir on Heroic, using a ranged weapon: +75 Damage, Reduced Wear 5000%, +175 Crit Damage.
When I reach my first Legendary playthrough I'll test if I can further boost the same item.
I don't recall seeing any options for using Mithril with Buri. Not before I talked to Arwen to give her the amount she needed, not after talking to her and going to Buri instead of Angmir, nothin'. You sure you weren't referring to the Westernesse weapons quest instead of Mithril?
As for my other things I was curious about, you can use the Mithril on ANYTHING. It's pretty nice. Sadly, there's only two bonuses: weapons, and other things (armor, shields, jewelry).
Angmir on Legendary gives +120 Damage, +300 Crit Damage, +5000% Reduced Wear for weapons.
He also gives +30 Dexterity, +150 Armor, and +5000% Reduced Wear for any armors, shields, or jewelry (yes, it does grant 5000% bonus to durability, even though jewelry has none to begin with).
As for the last test, you CAN stack Mithril bonuses on top of each other. When I added Mithril to the same bow from my Heroic run I already put Mithril on, I got the full Legendary effect, including an increase of Reduced Wear to 10000%.
Duh, me... Yeah, I actually WAS thinking of that other quest. Sorry 'bout that! Good to know stuff stacks. A 10000% weapon or armor? The has to be cool to NOT worry about breaking.
Still, I wish there were items with up to six slots in the game OR you could ADD extra slots to items. I had something like ten elf stones I was DYING to slot into a weapon, but everything I had was filled and a lot of the stuff I was finding had no slots or only two, but was lower quality.

so i looked here twice and there was never any mithril inside the chest in that cave. what's up?
Ninja Gaiden 2, Path of the Master Ninja... hardest 100 Gamerpoints I've ever gotten.
I've heard mention that it's weird and shifts around a bit to other spots if you're playing co-op or other things. The other location I seem to see mentioned is behind the dwarf door in the Mirkwood Marsh area (near the end of the Mirkwood level, just before the final spider section I believe).
I didn't find it in the Gundabad cave my first time through, either, and had to replay it to get the Mithril on Normal. Worked just fine on my Heroic and Legendary runs.
As for slots and the Elf-Stones to put in them, since you can likely repeatedly farm Legendary if you so desire for infinite Mithril upgrades, I've gotten to the point where I don't care about damage or defense on my items anymore. I'm looking solely for 2-3 Slots or + to Strength, Stamina, or Will items, and especially those same three stats for Elf-Stones as well. The only ones I find above standard quality are Dexterity for some reason, even though that's the only stat that will get uber-buffed from Mithril anyway. Stuns aren't that worth it, reduce/reflect damage is too low and eventually mitigated by Mithril'd armor, and element damage isn't that fantastic, although I would like to get something with Ice for my weapon at the very least.
If you plan to farm the hell out of Legendary runs, you pretty much only need to worry about the other three stats. Hell, you can put all of your level-up points into your other three stats and ignore Dexterity even, since it'll get so high with only one or two armor/jewelry upgrades regardless.
Is this quest bugged for anyone else?? only the dwarf can find it but i usually always play as ranger, ranger has gotten the mythril quest but not the dwarf so he won't find the mithril??
