I actually find that it helps me a lot when a game allows me to aim down sights. My style of play on MAG is especially indicative of this. I agree, that it would probably be best if "lock on" were replaced by it.
A definite yea for me.

If they didn't have ADS, they should use the Z button as a default lock screen button, where your reticle doesn't gravitate to the nearest enemy but you can only strafe or go forward or backward... no turning... something atleast to make things a bit more accurate.... the payoff would be people could be out of your peripheral vision, and if you were still on the lock screen mode, you wouldn't see them
