Each ASE in CtASE needs to be placed in front of a teams spawn location, or to the side, or anywhere that is not inside it.
Going by that system, why would we want a single spawn location at all? Yes, you shouldn't spawn directly on top of your own flag, but even if you spawn behind a pillar in the same room, there's no problem, provided there's a lot of other locations to spawn at, so people can't just rely on where the player is going to spawn.
It sounds like the first game just didn't have enough spawn points at all.
