I worry about the 'Stealth' perk

#1eggoroflPosted 4/14/2011 4:50:00 PM
I don't see why this perk is in the game.

- invisible from radar
- invisible from widowmaker sentry
- invisible from phase rifle tuning

This is going to be the go-to perk for campers and possibly even non-campers, I mean it's one of the only primary perk upgrade slots to have 3 benefits. This perk alone gives a camper everything he/she could possibly need to counter any attempt to counter their own camping play style.

I think this perk should not have had the ability to be invisible from the phase rifle tuning at the least.

Also, while on topic of the phase rifle, what regions of the body must it hit to deal a one hit kill? Will it deal less damage through walls?

The Phase Rifle must be a head shot in order to kill in one shot. If you have Phase Rifle Specialization, however, one shot anywhere will kill them. Also, shooting through the a wall does not weaken it.

the main reason that Stealth is not going to be gamebreaking is that most of the best upgrades in the game are in the same group. You can't use stuff like Armory and Reverse Damage while Stealth is on, limiting the utility of the perk. Only certain loadouts will be capable of using it without giving up too much to be useful.

Unlike Ghost Black Ops, Stealth actually has other perks of the same caliber grouped with it.

I think tealth would benefit run and gun more. I can rush area's without worry of early detection. To me this is the go-to perk for Shotgun players.

...well camping really isnt a problem in this game, unless they have a shot gun. It for sure isnt like bo where they can just camp with famas silencer with ghost and second chance -.-

Stealth may get a bit annoying, but shouldnt be that bad. Imma use it with mah AR-C Eclipes in CTF

Actually, campers wouldn't really benefit a lot with the upgrade.
If they don't move or use crouch, they won't appear on the radar regardless of the perk.
Also turrets shouldn't worry a camper, since the dude would have to explore the whole map to find them. And if they happen to choose a spot where the walls are pretty separated he might not even have to worry about a Phase rifle.

Sneaky guys however, will get a lot of advantages with it.

I guess you guys are right, there are other perks that will be useful in their own way/style in comparison to Stealth and if a perk was found to be 'top tier' or overused, then HVS could patch it.

Thanks for your response UnfoundedVirus! :) I was thinking the phase rifle would work like how you explained it but wasn't completely certain about it.

Phase rifle would be overpowered without it. How else are you going to counter phase rifle specialist loadouts?

That's hard to say before actually playing the game. Other perks may end up being more beneficial depending on how everyone else is playing. If everyone and their grandma has a phase rifle than yeah this is going to be a go to perk for safety. However by using stealth you lose things that would benefit you much more depending on the situation. Like i said, just wait and see how it all plays out.

Even if stealth is a problem by any means (AR-C invisibility too long, ect) HVS would likely patch it to balance it out
