Yes, another annoying comparison/contrast between C2 and CoD.
So, after a week or so of playing BOPS2 online, I'm reminded of the things I love about C2. This is the stuff that I would be sad to see lost in the next Conduit, if and when it does finally arrive.
I love the high health. I think I'll call this situation "the gunfight" versus "being gunned down." I like the pace of C2's online battles. Most of the maps are small enough that you're fighting most of the time, even in 2v2 matches. Plus there's nothing better than feeling the tide turn in your favor after someone has gotten the drop on you.
This is my second favorite thing about the game. I need a good ol' firefight. The action has to last long enough where there can be a turnaround mid battle, or something can happen unexpectedly. That being said, the health isn't all that high either... could definitely tolerate to be higher.
The ability to turn and fire while running C2 has true "run and gun" action. You can't fire while sprinting in CoD, and for that matter I don't even think I can turn my head very well while running. This is why the movement feels so awkward in CoD compared to C2 to me I think.
For sure! If you have high health, you need to have other ways to speed up gameplay. And this really does it.
Character selection and customization What can I say. I like to dress myself. I don't like playing as a random bald guy that needs to shave. Nothing against scruffy bald guys, I just like being able to choose. I could go on about this for a while, but it's nothing I haven't said to you guys already.
I can't get too excited about this because I only play teams, and the model I like happens to be basically the same as default.
Default sensitivity settings that run well Well balanced initial weapons These two are related to each other. It's pretty easy to pop in C2 and start playing online the day you buy the game. I've never changed any of my sensitivity settings or customized my button layout or HUD. I think most playstyles really don't need it. Plus you start with two of the most powerful weapons in the game, The Scar and USP. Sure they're a little weaker without perks, but they're still pretty good and ballistic upgrades happen pretty fast.
Definitely a plus. The community couldn't have developed the way it did w/o giving the newbs something playable. Even though I never stick w/ default controls very long, that really doesn't diminish the value here.
Violence that isn't too realistic or graphic This is a major plus for me. Maybe I'm just a sissy, but I like the fact that the online game isn't too graphic and has a sense of humor. For example, the witty retorts when being revived. But there's more to it than that. The very low quantity of blood plus the fact that you don't see the opponents face also contribute to this. In the 60's, censors wouldn't allow Star Trek to show anyone who was dead with their eyes open. I'm willing to bet that having the faces covered by shields contributed to this game getting it's teen rating.
Big plus for me too. Along with it, this game also has mild language for a shooter. I don't want to be part of a community where the players need all that stuff. sure filters out a lot of crap we'd be dealing with otherwise. Along with that... it bugs me that people's idea of "realistic violence" is completely glorified, and totally unrealistic. And that sort of worship is just plain... Not fun?
C2 is easier on my eyes. Maybe it's just my old eyes, but I could play C2 for hours and hours and while my wrist would get tired, I wouldn't feel eyestrain. In fact, lots of times I play C2 without my glasses. I'm not sure if the environment is just lower contrast or if it's something else, but when I play CoD I seem to never blink.
I'm pretty sure this has to do with it not having "realistic graphics'. Most HD games nowadays seem to have so much 'realistic' stuff going on, that its hard to actually see what is going on in the game. Although this is improving, some of the 2005 games were so 'realistic' that I wouldn't consider them to even be playable.
Game lobbys that aren't jam packed. Hahaha, I can't wait for people to jump on this one. This probably won't change in the next game, LOL.
I like this to, but I also like that sometimes they are :D
