The blog post was fine it stated what number of copies sold they have to be at to profit in term of cost to make the game.

No the blog post wasn't fine it was said before Sega chose to limit production so it is invalid.

No matter what amount of copies are made the dev cost is the same. Making a small amount of copies is not going to make the dev cost lower. They made a small amount of copies because of the small demand. HVS should have really knew Conduit 2 would not sell well.

Who cares about the Dev cost. There is no question on whether HVS wants to make another Conduit game. The question is do any publishers.

Meaning the dev cost doesn't matter, and considering nearly every copy ever made has been sold, there is no question that this was profitable for SEGA, especially because they spent basically no money besides making the disks.

The moral of the story: SEGA, once the greatest system developer on the planet (IMO) is now filled with a bunch of butt-holes.

Dev cost is important HVS is not going to make Conduit 3 when they lost money.HVS wants to make another Conduit but they won't when they have to pay for it. Yes Sega made profit but HVS did not. If a publisher has to pay to make the game then they don't want to publish the game.

They had absolutely no way of predicting what the demand would be. If they were that smart there wouldn't be any Sega games on any shelves anywhere.

In terms of how bad The Conduit turned out they should have knew. Plus they knew Conduit 2 was a glitch mess of a game before it shipped. Based on that they should have expected the poor sells number.

The Conduit had a fine turn out. Many of its reviews were 8/10s, and it sold over 350,000 copies with only like one commercial. That's a lot for an indie developer like HVS, and It was obviously enough to warrant a sequel. Now if there was one HVS game that made SEGA show remorse, it would have to be Tournament of Legends, which actually was a flop. Don't let your personal hatred for The Conduit get in the way of facts that have been stated over and over again.
