Why do you think the Conduit series is so unpopular? - Results (18 votes)
People are too busy playing crap like CoD and BF to bother giving a unique shooter a chance.

It's pretty obvious that Conduit isn't exactly a popular series, but what do you think is the true reason for this? As for me, I'm leaning towards "Garbage advertising". SEGA basically did nothing to promote this game...

I would say all of those reasons are about right.

I'd say its mediocre at worst, not at best.
At its best, its dang good.

But I don't think thats a reason, there are plenty of mediocre games that become popular.

Also, we're forgetting... Tcon WAS popular.
Its only Con2 which wasn't.

TCon sold like 400K copies. Nintendo sold ~86 million Wiis. Which means, roughly... 4 people out of every 1000 Wii owners bought The Conduit. In comparison, Conduit 2 was more like 5 out of every 10000.

We are the .05%. Not even the 1%. Point-zero-five percent.

Now that there is less Wii Owners does this mean we're any less insignificant? XD

I can guarantee that Tcon was one of the most pirated wii titles from a minor third party.

Does anybody not remember how entire communities were playing the game BEFORE IT RELEASED because somehow it got leaked and everybody was downloading it?

It was decently received, and is mostly well liked to this day, especially with those in the wii Community, which IS much smaller than 86 million.
Many many people have played it.

I think the timing was all wrong. Most people weren't ready for a FPS on the Wii, even though it's the perfect platform with the Wiimote. Then the ball was suddenly dropped when there was no advertising for C2 and it was just expected that everyone that owned TCon would buy it.

It also didn't help that the release date for C2 kept getting pushed back. We had kind of forgotten about it by the time it actually released.

All of the above, except for being on Wii. Sega didn't market it at all. It didn't get the benefit of the doubt of big name games. A boring campaign and numerous glitches turned people off from the highlights. I'm sure nanomachines played some part.

I think that an important thing is that the most people just don't like the B-movie/conspiracy nut themes. I personally love that kind of stuff, but most don't.
