"I mean, what is that sound anyway?"

Black holes suck in everything: light, sound, all matter. My guess is that HVS made that sound to represent the transfer of sound between the C2 dimension and where ever the sounds is transported to. A sort of spiraling effect.

In real life, wouldn't the black holes not make any sound because of the vacuum of space and no sound being able to escape from it?

Yes, but we still need an explanation of the residual sound.

Hi Keith,

Yeah, I'm usually only on after about midnight EST. Sometimes I'm on earlier in the evening, but usually competition for the TV backs me up to midnight.

And on the black hole thing... the sound that theirs makes reminds me a little bit of the sound the Tardis makes when Dr. Who is traveling through time. It's not exactly the same sound, it's speeded up or slowed down maybe, but it seems similar.

I understand that a black hole wouldn't allow even light to escape, but that's only beyond the event horizion. It also has to be sucking air in at an astonishingly high rate. The air being sucked toward the black hole which is still outside the event horizon would make an air rushing sound... maybe even like a jet engine.

Maybe the sound we hear is some device inside the DarkStar which limits the size of the black hole.

ok, yeah, I'm bored.

I agree, the Tardis sound is very similar. I hate lying there on the floor dragging around a room, staring at my avatar ;-). I am on Mountain time so usually get in about 10pm to midnight. Will be off for a few days while traveling to California.

I feel like I know you. Most of my friends watch Dr.Who while I've seen the dreadful first old episode without understanding A THING IN THAT EPISODE.

WHAT CHANNEL IS IT?

I think it's on BBC america and probably a couple of other channels.

I don't really watch it regularly, but I saw it some when I was a kid. When the new series started, I watched the first season, and then at the end of the first season they changed actors for the Doctor, and I was like pfffft! Forget this.

All you really need to know is that he's a Time Lord (time traveller) and his choices aren't always motivated by morality. So sometimes he makes choices that might not seem like the ones that a hero-type would make.

This might be the last season, but I'm not sure.

You... you... you didn't watch David Tennant? You quit after Christopher Eccleston? Shame on you, Signal. Don't get me wrong, Eccleston did an amazing Doctor... But David Tennant is a genius. If you don't know who David Tennant is, he was in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire of Barty Crouch Junior (the bad guy, pretended to be Moody).
