If I'm not mistaken, we can legally dump the ROMs ourselves, and the emulators are already legal.

This is a sad turn of events, but did say it was coming, but didnt think it would be so soon.

Have known for ages that Nintendo was cutting back support to its Wii console, more since the release of the WiiU.

And with the release of the Wii Mini last year, it looked as if the last nail had been nailed into the Wii's coffin, so to speak.

But my big question is this - is this going to affect the Wii mode on the WiiU console, which I think uses another set of servers. Something tells me it might not, or rather Im hoping it won't.

Mind you does anyone really know?

I am 99% certain that this affects the Wii mode on the WiiU console as well, because I think it "looks" exactly like a Wii to their network, and even uses the Wii's somewhat outdated security protocol to communicate to your networks router while the WiiU uses different security protocols.

I hope I am wrong.

This is something that they should have addressed if they wanted to encourage sales of the WiiU instead of just making everyone upset. But I'm pretty sure their network can't tell the difference if the Wii is an actual Wii or the WiiU in Wii mode.

We're still in stage 1... Denial.

None of us know yet, do we Signal.

But this list makes me wonder as to whose servers C2 actually uses. There is no mention of C2 on it.

Wait, so they are saying they will be discontinuing the Wi-Fi on the Wii platform services? If so, this is outrageous. Been playing a lot of games online on the Wii lately. We need a serious discussion with the Wii Service Providers.

That is exactly correct.

No Nintendo Wi-Fi after May 20th.

Only the newer Nintendo Network that uses NNIDs and supports the WiiU and 3DS will be available going forward.

This is going to affect a lot more people than most realize, but obviously Nintendo knows based on traffic to their servers.
