I didn't know pikman was a systems mover though. How many systems is it credited with roughly, as far as bringing wii u's into households?

Pikman is not a new IP

I wasn't comparing it to Pikmin 3, Mossy. I was comparing it to the original Pikmin on GameCube. A new Nintendo IP that doesn't piggy-back off of any established characters, franchises, or console bundles. I'm expecting (and sincerely hoping) that Splatoon will follow a similar trajectory to Pikmin.

...Isn't a Nintendo game. It's published by Nintendo, but it's made by Platinum.

According to these, Nintendo owns the trademark.

Cool, B. I did not know that. (Sorta expected it though.) Is it like Perfect Dark then? I see were Nintendo just filed to extend it's license on that.

Or more like when outside studios get a crack at first party "material"? (like the Metroid primes, other m, hyrule heroes, etc) Out of curiosity is X & Xenoblade chronicles anything like that too?

Platnium sure must be a studio held in high regard! They get all the outside contracts for "second party stuff" (term I'm not so uncertain I made up; anyway what it means by my definition is an outside party working on first party, console exclusive stuff)

Didn't Microsoft just hire them to make something for the Box1?

Metroid Prime is done by Retro, who are owned by Nintendo. Those are full first-party games. Same is true for X and Xenoblade, they were made by Monolith Soft, who are owned by Nintendo.

Platinum is actually a recreation of Clover Studios. When Clover disbanded, the key members formed Platinum, and hired a bunch of their former staff (Similar to Respawn (Titanfall devs) was formed from after a mass-quit from Infinity Wars (CoD:MW)). So Platinum is basically responsible for Viewtiful Joe & Okami as Clover, and Bayonetta, W101, and Vanquish as Platinum. So basically every single game they've ever made has been universally praised by critics. They are a consistently high-quality dev.

I was reading you guys talking about splatoon and was like "Hmm I new shooter!"

So I just got back from checking out the trailers and reading about it. And my initial reaction was
"Oh, a brightly colored childrens game to keep them busy while youre in the bedroom"

Thanks, Lig. So basically no worries over X going anywhere (not that I worry about it going to other systems...more so I'd worry the dev would go under or the product shelved due to limited budgets or a lack of publisher- we all know how that feels)

Since it's actually owned by Nintendo, I don't have to worry!

That whole Retro Nintendo scenerio is a cool story to check out. Nintendo bought them only 7 months before Prime came out; after being in development for close to two year. I know they are under the Nintendo umbrella now, but I remember reading all sorts of worry when Prime was first being developed. There was worry over it's direction and questions if a company outside of Nintendo could do it right. Turns out Nintendo was pretty hands on though, from telling them what engine to use to helping them come up with the idea of how to work the visor. (Neat vid out there somewhere of dev commentary about the visit; they asked Retro...what if Samus had eyes like a fly, or something to that effect)

I'd say they did, lol. I don't think I'd want the next Wii U Metroid to be in that style though. Think I want more of a third person adventure. That's just me though.

While I'm talking with you, what ever happened to our Ubisoft Clancy shooter? It's been finished on PC for awhile. Do you think that's the game Ubisoft has said they are holding back?

Usually a "childrens game" would refer to a rather low-budget game that doesn't provide much entertainment to people who know better. Like a Shrek game or something. Splatoon looks like it might be one of the most fun games ever. Definitely well-made.

Seriously, that's like calling Legend of Zelda a children's game. Or Mario 3D World. Just because a game isn't all blood and guts doesn't mean it's not going to be a fantastic game.

... That being said, the game you're looking for is Devil's Third. Also being made for the Wii U.

I never said I wanted a blood and gore game, and im pretty sure I didnt imply either.

Also im not sure if im throwing a spear at a fish thats actually 2 inches apart from where I see it due to the light but im pretty sure Disney movies arent low budget at all...
