So I just downloaded Team Fortress 2 on Tuesday and I've been having fun with it lately. The more I play it, the more I see similarities between it and Conduit 2. Almost all the classes in TF2 are strikingly similar to a gun in C2. If you have both games, I'd like to hear your thoughts on this. If you don't, I'd recommend TF2 to replace your C2 urges. :) Don't think so? Let me explain.
1. Scout- Basically the TF2 version of metal legs+supercharger+SPAS 12. Fast and annoying. 2. Soldier- The TF2 take of the C2 favorite... the one... the only.. the SMAW! :p 3. Pyro- It took me a while to think of something similar to a pyro and his flamethrower, but if I had to pick 1 Conduit 2 gun that it's similar to, it'd have to be the hive cannon. Both are sort of spray and pray guns. Also reminds me of the AEGIS because it can repel rockets. 4. Demoman- Uses two guns that combine to equal almost exactly what the TPC launcher is. 5. Heavy- The carbonizer! Think about it... lots of ammo, you have to wind the gun up before firing, slow moving, basically shoots out a solid beam of bullets... these 2 are very similar. 6. Engineer- Capable of setting up a sentry gun, just like the widowmaker turret. All you have to do is stay out of the way and let the sentry work, and hope it doesn't get blown up. 7. Medic- This is the ONLY class that I can't find a C2 comparison for... There's no gun in C2 that can heal like the Medic's gun. 8. Sniper- The Sniper's gun remind me of the strike rifle, just without the drudge twist to it. It charges when you scope in, is an automatic kill with a headshot, yet won't kill usually with just a body shot. This is another one that is very similar in my eyes. 9. Spy- Spy's have the disguise ability in TF2 which is unrivaled in C2, but the ability to cloak themselves and get an auto-kill with a backstab reminds me a lot of the AR-C Eclipse.
There's also control points in TF2, like C2, and most of the game modes revolve around them. The way that the control points attract members of both teams and cause a lot of action is similar to Conduit 2 as well. Also, with no lock-on and no radar(a bad thing for me :p), it plays like a good ol' Conduit 2 Hardcore match.
After thinking of all this it makes me wonder... I know that a lot of people say that C2 is closest to Halo if they're forced to compare it to something, but I think that's just because of the alien theme. If you go strictly by gameplay, I think that Conduit 2 is veeeery similar to Team Fortress 2. Maybe HVS took a few(or many) pages from Team Fortress's book when they designed their game?
