Then they could regain control of the relays and Shepard/Alliance/Cerberus are screwed because its every star system for itself. Instead we (seemingly) have the reapers all go straight to Earth and sit on it, waiting to get crushed in the ending by the reinforcements Shepard is bringing. Through the Charon relay. The reaper's relay.
Naturally, this is all just speculation from the teaser, but still...

xander70769Posted 12/14/2010 7:13:52 PM | im confused by the trailer in this aspect as well. i had imagined that when the repear fleet finally arrived that they would simultaneously attack many worlds at once. plus, they are supposed to start with the citadel in order to weaken the communication between the races as well as obtain information on where all the colonies and such are. |

Not exactly sure why they're just attacking Earth. I mean, it always seemed like there would be enough Reapers to....you know....destroy a lot of planets at once. All of them attacking Earth seems like the fight would be over in ten minutes.

Shepard ruined their plans by destroying the collector base and their unfinished reaper. So instead of slowly going after tiny human colonies, the reapers decide to send their whole fleet to the largest concentration of humans, earth. The question is why are they only going after humans and not other alien races? It must not be possible to make a krogan or turian reaper. lol |

Harbinger has dialogue near the end that alludes to the fact that other species simply cannot be made into reapers for one reason or the other. Some examples being Turians home planet warping their DNA (had something to do with radiation I think) and the Quarians being "wasted potential" due to their immune system and small numbers (paraphrasing). It was also foreshadowed by Mordin, who more than once went on about the Diversity of DNA in humans, and the Collectors being repurposed as slaves instead of a reaper. So not all species can be made into reapers (at least current evidence does not suggest it).
