Quick preface: I realize that in the grand total of acquirable War Assets, 100 points isn't all that significant, but this is still bugging me.

My imported ME2 save had the following resources:

Element Zero: 110k
Iridium: 275k
Platinum: 179k
Palladium: 225k

My War Asset score for Mineral Resources was only "mid-grade" -- 25 points.

Notes/Other Possible Factors:

All of my minerals are from scanning and/or missions; I have no DLC whatsoever, however, I did start off with a small boost from importing a ME1 character with a completed mineral sidequest.

All upgrades and research projects have been acquired and completed except for the Med-Bay project -- in other words, I did not skimp on spending minerals to inflate my reserves.

I still have a few planets left that could be mined for resources though. Perhaps the importer runs a check on how many probes you've launched or how many planets you have reduced to Poor/Depleted?

Going to load up my ME2 save and acquire some additional minerals through scanning. I'll report what happens when I have the results.

I wonder if it also takes the ME 1 minerals into consideration? After all, the matriarch writings are carried over, so...
Why do people... betray one another? They might as well... all just die instead.
Welcome to my kingdom!

I have 100 on one of my characters, IIRC I had over 200k of each as well as all the minerals from the first game as well. I can get more accurate numbers later after I'm out of work.

190k Paladium
280k Iridium
200k Platinum
75k Eezo

Comparing my numbers to your own, I would say that doing the collection missions in Mass Effect 1 probably had something to do with it.

I abused the Shadow Brokers base in Mass Effect 2 and I acquired a little over 200,000 for each resource with element zero being 150,000. That gave me the mineral resources war asset of 100.

About the same here, but i'm fairly certain you only need 200k of the normal elements. Seen some people with a million...

Maybe it's not surplus ( what we have left at the end of the game ) but accumulated total?
