They are individuals, not bland stereotypes.

I also just wanted to add that all the characters are 'experts', 'specialists', 'masters', and 'veterans.' There's not a single half-hearted or incompetent among them. No anti-heroes, no washed up has-beens looking for a second chance either. They're all only characters who have a 'thing', and that's the most definitive thing about them.

Been awhile since I talked to him in-game. =/), Miranda is sterile, Liara has a darker-edge, Legion is actually a group of over a thousand individuals, and Mordin sings.

The truth is it's impossible, EVERY character ever that would be at all interesting in a setting like this has been done before a thousand times over because characters and personalities aren't new.
