If I can read in the demo, I'll be able to read in the real game, right?

This should be a relatively simple question. I want to get this game soon but I'm currently stuck playing on an older SDTV and I want to know if I'll be able to read the text or not.

ME1: I can read it just fine.
ME2: I can read it with some difficulty.
ME3 demo: maybe slightly better than ME2.

Dragon Age: I can read well enough.
Dragon Age 2: Completely impossible to play.

My concern is that the Demo may not be true to the final product because they still had some polishing to do and some of that polishing may have involved shrinking the text to "only visible in HD" levels.

I realize HDTVs are becoming the norm, but I'm an impoverished grad student. I'm only finally getting ME3 soon because it's gone down to the $20 range. So please, none of that "just buy a new TV and get with the 21st century already," okay? I'm working on it.

Yup it's reads like part 1 pretty much.

I remember many many years ago when i bought dead rising and couldn't read ANY of the text on my standard 40 inch tv. So i looked online for a fix in the settings and found an interview were a videogame journalist asked the game director about the issue lots of people like me were having and he said if you don't own a HDTV you shouldn't own an xbox so we are not concerned.

What a jackass.

You can get an okay HDTV for around 400 dollars nowadays. Give it a shot, although you probably don't want to hear that.

Yeah you should be fine I play side by side with my girl on an SDTV and it's a tiny bit blurry but it's actually pretty easy to read.

I couldn't read map waypoints in me2. I didn't notice a problem in the third one.

Thanks guys.

400 is still a little steep for me. If I can get away with it, I'll probably wait until I get out of school and (hopefully) get a steady career going.

But it's good to know that there are still a few new(ish) games out there with SDTVs in mind.

If you live in the States, Black Friday is coming up soon! If you live in Canada, then Boxing Day awaits you!

But yeah, if you had SOME difficulty reading the text in ME2, then ME3 should be awesome. I had a tough as balls time reading the text in ME2 on my SDTV :|

Not so subtle bragging about having a girlfriend post. We get it, Alex, you are cooler than us.

Yes, but we shouldn't HAVE to buy a new TV just because developers are being too idiotic to make the font in a game an appropriate size to be readable. It also doesn't help that no-one wants to make tube TV's anymore. While they last for years, a flatscreen dies in less then 6 months and the store refuses to replace it. Furthermore, no-one seems to want a 3:4 ratio anymore, but when you go to a widescreen format, text gets stretched into illegibility and you have to spend thousands to get a TV tall enough that the text isn't squashed anymore...

And all of this is without even CONSIDERING the lunacy of Microsoft in creating a game system that deliberately cuts off the HUD details for people trying to play there games, when they don't own an HD ****ING TV. VERY top of my list of reasons to burn Microsoft to the ground, even above 'Evil Capitalist money-grubbing *****s'.
